America - fuck yeah!

I sat in someone else's living room. I heard the cheers. I lifted my glass. I sat outside. I heard screams coming from neighboring houses. I drove home. There were people dancing in the street and horns honking all around.

Austin wasn't this happy when Vince Young won us the Rose Bowl in 2005. I love it here, and for the first day in my entire life, I wish I had a flag pin.

Oh and Karl Rove? Raise those Horns and sing that fight song again and I will send Bevo after you. I'm not even kidding.

The response was really amazing, wasn't it? I was at a friend's house as well and I didn't end up leaving until after Obama's speech. To walk and listen to an entire city celebrate an election was breathtaking. There was even a spontaneous parade down one of our major boulevards.

I was totally thinking of you and wondering what it was like to be in Texas when the win was announced. At least you were in Austin. By the way, if you get a chance, check out international news sites. FINALLY America is appreciated again by the rest of the world. They no longer think we are a bunch of gun-toting selfish idiots! (Can you blame them though? We did vote in the W - twice...)

i was at a huge Democratic event and they counted down like it was New Years. And tyere was a marching band 9of 6 people) parading down the street as I drove home. It was surreal...like in a movie.

I wonder if everyone will ask where we were the night Obama was elected?
